The day of festivities began with a delightful continental breakfast, filled with an array of delicious pastries, fruit and steaming hot coffee.  It was also a time to fellowship and connect  with others.  The day had started on a perfect note, setting the tone for a joyful and memorable day ahead.

Later we enjoyed a satisfying lunch, indulging in the flavorful sub sandwiches and crunchy chips, accompanied by fresh fruit. To top it off, a delectable dessert was also included, satisfying our sweet tooth. The Dickson Foundation generously organized and sponsored this lunch, allowing us to not only enjoy a delicious meal but also connect and share fellowship with one another. As we savored our lunch, we had the opportunity to explore the various vendor tables and gather valuable information about resources that are available. It was a pleasant and fulfilling experience, with both nourishment and knowledge being shared among us.

Please take a moment to browse through the websites of the vendors that shared with us this month. You will find a wealth of valuable information there that can be of great benefit. These websites provide insights into their products, services, and offerings, allowing you to make informed decisions. By exploring their websites, you can gain a better understanding of the vendors' expertise, experience, and reputation. Additionally, you may come across testimonials, case studies, and client reviews that can further assist you in evaluating their capabilities. Lunch and Fellowship

Caring for someone with Alzheimer's can take a toll on your well-being and mental health.  The speaker shared that as a caregiver, it's easy to become overwhelmed and neglect your own self-care. However, it's crucial to prioritize your physical and emotional strength, as it directly affects the person you're caring for. Building a strong support network is also vital to ensure you have the necessary assistance for your own well-being.  Our organizations understand the challenges you face and are here to provide the support you need. Remember, taking care of yourself is just as important as caring for your loved one with Alzheimer's.

Speakers for the Month

This interactive Tai Chi Session was awesome. It gave insight to some to the benefits of this ancient Chinese art. Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese practice that dates back centuries. It is a form of gentle exercise that combines slow and deliberate movements with deep breathing techniques. Often referred to as "meditation in motion," Tai Chi is known for its ability to promote a sense of calm and relaxation. By practicing Tai Chi, individuals can revitalize their internal energy, improve blood circulation, and alleviate mental stress. This ancient exercise also has the potential to enhance the overall balance of the body and mind, contributing to a more harmonious state. Additionally, Tai Chi is believed to have anti-aging benefits, helping individuals slow down the natural aging process.

Chris Peake from Carolina Farm Trust shared some great information of Farm grown vegetables vs vegetables from the grocery stores. Carolina Farm Trust manages a network of urban farms in the Charlotte Metro with the goal of making the area a global leader in sustainability by feeding the region with food from local farms. Their mission is to Strengthen the local food system in the Carolinas, by building a regional resilient food system from production to consumption.

Making better food choices is a powerful way to improve our relationship with food and ultimately empower ourselves. By consciously selecting nutritious and wholesome options, we can fuel our bodies with the vital nutrients they need to thrive. This means opting for fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats, while minimizing processed foods and sugary drinks. By doing so, we can nourish ourselves from within and support our overall well-being. Additionally, making better food choices allows us to prioritize our health and make positive changes in our lifestyle. It enables us to take control of our eating habits and break free from unhealthy patterns. By creating a healthier relationship with food, we can unlock a world of vitality and happiness. All the while, supporting our regional farmers.
